Abstract

Geotourism as a sustainable development strategy contributes to the diversification of the local economy by using its geological and/or mining heritage as a high-quality environmental tourism resource for education, conservation, scientific research, and social inclusion. This research proposes a methodology for designing geotourism trails that contribute to local tourism development. The main results of the research focus on the development of a specific methodology for designing geotourism trails that integrate the geodiversity and geological heritage of Moa, which will contribute to the local and sustainable development of the territory. The proposal integrates current trends, as it includes the necessary stages and steps to be applied in any locality that has natural characteristics suitable for the development of this geotourism activity.
