Abstract

In the primary level of public education in Ecuador, traditional teaching methodologies are still used, which may affect Ecuadorian students' academic performance in skills related to reading comprehension and written expression in Language and Literature, lower than the average of the Latin American and Caribbean region. This implies the need for this research with a mixed methodological approach, descriptive scope and pre-test/post-test experimental design; with the objective of developing learning activities in the subject of Language and Literature, based on the Canva platform, for sixth grade students, of the educational unit "18 de Noviembre". As a result, it is demonstrated that the learning activities in Language and Literature, based on the Canva technological tool, constitute an alternative pedagogical resource to traditional teaching methods; that contribute to improving academic performance, through essential skills and abilities such as: reading comprehension and written expression, as well as the motivation of primary level students. The research topic can serve as a reason for future research in this or other subjects or levels of Ecuadorian public education.
