In a business environment characterized by turbulent change and increasing competitive demands, managerial quality emerges as a decisive factor in organizational performance. However, a gap persists in the literature regarding its specific impact within the agroindustrial context. This article aims to analyze the existing scientific output on the evaluation of managerial quality’s impact on business performance, with emphasis on the sugar agroindustrial sector during the period 2018–2025. A quantitative, retrospective-descriptive, and bibliometric approach was adopted, utilizing databases such as Scopus and ScienceDirect. The VOSviewer software was employed to map indicators including scientific productivity, co-authorship, and keyword co-occurrence. A total of 126 documents were identified, with peak production in 2019 and 2021 (52%). Studies predominantly focus on business performance, while few explicitly address managerial quality. The most prolific countries were India, China, and Indonesia. No clusters linking both variables were found, revealing a theoretical gap. The relationship between managerial quality and business performance in agroindustry remains incipient. The findings underscore the need to investigate specific impact mechanisms, integrate multidisciplinary approaches, and expand geographic coverage to strengthen empirical evidence
