Abstract

A theoretical review of the literature on Local Production Systems (LPS) published between 2015 and 2025 was carried out to update its definition for the Cuban context, based on the author’s doctoral thesis (Madruga-Torres, 2015) and her 2014 article. Through content analysis of 32 sources indexed in Scopus, SciELO, Latindex, DOAJ and Google Scholar, six novel contributions were identified: Local Production Arrangement (LPA)/Local Production System (LPS) differentiation, hybrid governance, structural digitalization, LIPS approach, multi-scalar network vision, and the active role of social forces. An updated definition integrating these elements while preserving the original conceptual core is proposed. The article provides a theoretical basis for future productive articulation indices and territorial development policies in Cuba.
